"Creativity takes courage!" - Henry Matisse
Kate Power is a visual and sound artist based in Dublin, working across print, installation and digital media. A recent graduate of NCAD, Power received a first-class honours qualification in Fine Art Print and Education, with a previous degree from TUD, in Media Art and Irish Language. Since graduating, Power has been shortlisted for the Global Graduate Award 2022 and The RDS Visual Art Awards 2022. Her work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally, at such exhibitions as Bloom Festival Dublin, The Society of Graphic Fine Art London, The Sarah Walker Gallery Cork, Hang Tough Contemporary and The Mason, Hayes & Curran Winter Show. Her work has been purchased for inclusion in private and public art collections, including NCAD Dublin, Sarah Walker Gallery, DCU and Mason Hayes & Curran.
Specialising in the the medium of print, installation and digital art, Kate's studio practice is multi disciplinary and constantly evolving. By combining hand made and digital components within her practice, the artwork has a footing in both worlds which we as humans inhabit in contemporary life, “IRL” and online. Her passion for social histories, Irish culture and the connection between its' land and people, can be seen throughout her contemporary work. Kate currently lives in Dublin 7 with her dog Cúper.
